The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) concluded the review process of the regulations governing the importation of fresh beef (chilled or frozen) and products of animal origin from the United States. This will make Paraguay one of 18 countries in the world capable of exporting beef products to the United States. This revision took effect on December 14, 2023.
Paraguay's successful completion of the USDA process reflects the high quality of Paraguayan beef and Paraguay's food safety and animal health systems. USDA evaluations follow a rigorous technical and scientific process, which reflects the high standards of the US system. It is also a testament to the hard work of the National Animal Quality and Health Service (SENACSA) and other Paraguayan institutions involved in the USDA process.
The Paraguayan authorization means that meat can be exported to the United States again after 25 years. Authorities and producers highlighted the coordinated work to meet all requirements over time.
